The aim of the VISAVIS project is to enhance digital media and information literacy (MIL) skills in Europe by empowering citizens with the necessary tools and technical, cognitive, social, civic and creative capacities to detect visual-based disinformation, including: (1) the re-use of an older video in a different context in order to mislead the viewers about current events and (2) the use of synthetically or AI created or manipulated deepfake images. By empowering individuals across Europe to detect and combat visual-based disinformation effectively, the project aims to drive transformative and sustainable change and foster a culture of media literacy and critical thinking in the digital age, ultimately contributing to a more resilient society.
