Dr. Charalampos Kouzinopoulos

Postdoctoral Research Associate

  • Computer Engineer, ΑΤΕΙ Σερρών (2005)
  • MSc Data Communication Systems, Brunel University (2007)
  • PhD Parallel and distributed implementations of multiple- and two dimensional pattern matching algorithms, University of Macedonia (2014)
Dr C.S. Kouzinopoulos works at the Information Technologies Institute of the Center of Research and Technology Hellas since July 2018 as a Postdoctoral Researcher. His research interests include Algorithm Complexity, Computer Architecture, Parallel and Distributed Computing, Computational High Energy Physics, Big Data and Bioinformatics. He has participated as a member of 6 European and National research projects. Currently, he is running the AMANDA project, which aims to develop a unique Autonomous Smart Sensing Card which will have the size, feel and look of a credit card, ideal for easy deployment in buildings (smart living environments) or as wearables (bikes, valuable assets, people). This project covers the triangle of experimentation, development and standardization in order to optimise the applied material's behaviours connectivity, miniaturization, power consumption, security, intelligence, design and cost. He has published more than 90 papers in Scientific Journals, 3 Book Chapters and 16 original papers in International Scientific Conferences. He is a Reviewer for the Journal on IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications as well as the IEEE Industry Applications Magazine and he was a chair at the 2018 IEEE International Conference on INnovations in Intelligent SysTems and Applications Scientific Conference. Since 2019 he is working at the School of Informatics of the Faculty of Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, teaching the undergraduate classes of Algorithms and Complexity, Distributed and Networking Systems as well as Graph Theory and Algorithms. In the past he has taught the undergraduate classes of Computer Architecture and Operating Systems in the School of Informatics of the Technical University of Thessaloniki and the Technical University of Serres. Between 2014 and 2016 he has worked as a Senior Research Fellow at CERN. As part of his research, he worked for the efficient distribution of Big Data for the updated detector of the ALICE experiment, as well as for the research and development of efficient algorithms for the Track Reconstruction step of the Time Projection Chamber of the ALICE experiment at CERN's LHC, as part of the ALFA project.
